Any Excuse To Talk About Dogs!

National Dog Day

Did you know its National Dog Day tomorrow? It’s a day made to raise awareness about the number of dogs that are currently in rescue centres and to encourage the adoption of these animals.

As you are probably aware, the ‘puppy pandemic’ issue has been widely discussed. With more time at home there was a rush to get a puppy which not only drove prices sky-high, but also resulted in websites like Pets4Homes being flooded with ads for re-homing young dogs that ‘weren't a good fit’.

If you, like us, you had a dog at home already then life in lockdown allowed us to spend more quality time at home with them! For our family it really did allow us to make some precious lasting final memories with our Bertie who sadly died recently. We’ve since introduced the delicious Digby - a small dog with a very big character!

Anything dog related always sells well in at Insideout. As humans we just love representing man’s best friend don’t we, whether it’s humouring them in cards, showing off our chosen breed in a pair of earrings, putting them on a mug - or even socks! I particularly like this Dogs with Jobs 500 piece jigsaw puzzle we’re stocking at the moment.

Whether your pet has become your new working from home buddy, or they’ve just been there keeping your spirits up…this precious time has given us the opportunity to witness all their cute quirks and funny personalities more than ever!

If you haven’t got a dog and you’re interested in having one, then here are a few of the local dog rehoming centres where you’ll find dogs both young and old, all looking for a forever home.

Wingletang Rescue and Rehoming Centre for Dogs and Cats, Tavistock

Woodside Animal Welfare Trust, Plympton

RSPCA Little Valley Animal Shelter, Exeter

Gables Cats and Dogs Home, Plymouth

Just Whippets, Exeter

We’d love to see your dog photos! Tag #Insideouthome or send us a photo via social media (links at the bottom of this page). Who doesn’t love to look at cute dog pics all day anyway!?

Nicky.
